Happy New Year in 2008.
It is now 54 since 54.
That means that it is 54 years since the 1954 Footscray Premiership, Footscray's 10th overall senior Premiership, but sadly our most recent as well.
In 2022 we may well be saying its 61 since 61, should we not make a Grand Final in the next 13 years, with 2022 being 61 years since 1961- when we were runners up.
But nonetheless lets stick with 2008- a prosperous and safe and happy year for all- and it is 30 years since 1978 when we were to briefly hold the record score.
Happy New Year 2008

I'll only become depressed when we're saying it's 97 since 97 when we came within 2 points of a grand final.
[although Libba's goal should have been allowed, I saw it go through the goalposts with my own eyes.... painful memories]

Happy new year!
54 since 54...
54 since Footscray's Premiership...
54 since Sporting completed its series of back-to-back-to-back-to-back Portuguese league titles...
Let's hope we will still be talking about 2008 54 years from now!

Yes 54 - it is a number (well a year) that can't be forgotten. How appropriate that it applies to Sporting Lisbon as well!
