I agree with Aker on David Smorgon. He refused to acknowledge the name Footscray and has not listened to other opinions. While I agree that players should not rubbish their old clubs as it looks spiteful and creates problems, I just think he has not achieved enough as president. It is time to return to the name Footscray.

Everyone can ponder if any individual could head into their 15th consecutive season as President at any of the other 15 V.F.L/A.F.L clubs having-

NOT won a Premiership in any of those 14 seasons

or WORSE

NOT played in a Grand Final in any of those 14 seasons

The old line about having continued faith and trust in those in charge reminds of the old line about-

Still leaving the porch light on for Harold Holt.

Jason has become friends with the people on that new AM radio station, that he is involved with, rather than (what was a few months ago) his team-mates, but unfortunately for J. Akermanis, that station may go to the wall- well in its present form it will.

His team-mates would be there for him if he saw them as his pals. Sadly it appears that he believes that his employers at the radio station are his friends for life and his team-mates were expendable.

He may end up without a friend from his footballing days- which would be disappointing for him- but it would be self inflicted. Yet Aker's 'mates' at the radio station won't be there for ever- they may not themselves be in a job for much longer. When some of these blokes were at 3AW they were insulated by being on with the likes of Ross Stevenson and John Burns. The problem is that people tune in to listen to John and Ross, not the casual contributors.

Aker will struggle if his whole act is about bagging- people will get bored with that quite quickly.

These are his choices though- can he survive in the media though?. Because if he doesn't, there may not be jobs in football for him, all clubs may not trust him.

Over to you Aker- what choice will it be?
