Mike Sheahan, I have always respected you as a journalist even though I don't always agree with everything you write. However, this week there have been two articles in the Herald Sun that have really upset me. Firstly, the article on the Brownlow medal win of Cooney was mean-spirited and unnecessarily nasty. You obviously wanted Ablett Junior to win and seemed angry that someone else won. I am sorry but there are many fantastic Geelong players who deserved their brownlow votes and are being unfairly looked over because too many people in the media are obsessed with Ablett.

For Mike Sheahan it was a case of poor "little Gazza " and then how the photo of Ablett and his girlfriend looking devastated felt like a dagger to the heart. Come on ! How melodramatic. For goodness sake, poor "little Gazza " has already won one premiership, is playing in another grand final on Saturday and has won plently of awards. Cooney has had a wonderful year, has played with injuries and remember we actually won virtually all of our games up to the break.

But then, the next article you wrote was even worse. While you think West should retire and not go to another team is your opinion, why o'h why did you have to put in the completely unnecessary fact that you don't think Scott West is a champion. That was nasty, un-called for and downright mean. Scott West is a champion. Seven best and fairest should prove that. But even if you don't think so, why kick the poor man when he is down by printing that mean statement. Mike Sheahan, hang your head in shame!
