This morning on the Radio National sports report Warwick Hadfield mentioned that he'd received lots of complaints over the years for referring to teams and other institutions by their original names. He mentioned North Melbourne, Footscray, the Sheffield Shield and a few Sydney rugby teams that my brain bleeped out so I can't remember who they were. Well, he said, North Melbourne is now North Melbourne once again, and as of this morning, the Sheffield Shield is once again the Sheffield Shield. He didn't mention the third one we want back again but I sure thought about it.

Yes, I could never understand the Sheffield Shield becoming the Pura Cup. They (the milk mob) would have been better off calling it the Pura Sheffield Sheffield. By leaving the proper name out it loses significance in the sense that by just being Pura Cup it doesn't have any effect. If they were the Pura Sheffield Shield- they are getting better mileage out of their sponsorship because people know who they are sponsoring and its meaning.

Anyway they have sorted that out at last- the right thing done. Now its our turn- at long long last.
