i am hoping that somebody on here may be of assistance.

i am trying to obtain footage of the 1982 r13 game between footscray v Hawthorn at western oval, a game that was won by footscray by 15 pts after trailing by 33 points in the last quarter.

this was a non televised game, so my only chance of obtaining any sort of footage would be from world of sport that aired the following day.

i have contacted ch 7, and both clubs, but they are unable to help me, and of course name a game/afl video don't go back that far anyway.

so if anyone can help me at all, i would greatly appreciate it.

thank you

What so your now into the defeats Langers?

What have you had enough of the 'basking in the glory of this 2008 Premiership'- Crawfords Cup?

Too much good stuff- back to some 'character building' defeats! :?

Well back to that 1982 match, I was there it was one of my most enjoyable victories of all time- in fact it was exhilarating- Bluey Hampshire taking over as coach and in this his second game and first at home to come from 33 points down at three quarter time and triumph was just magnificent. It was fantastic because that was the worst three years that any Bulldogs fan had endured both VFA and VFL and wins were like gold dust in that time 1980- 1982.

Younger fans love talking about beating Essendon in 2000 and Collingwood in 1990, and they were certainly very good results, but alot of that to me seems to be because it is Essendon and Collingwood. That Hawthorn game of 1982 was better for me in the sense that it was more joyous becasue at that time the dogs just did not win. We were beaten by over 100 points four times that year  It was just abysmal and to win a game was thrilling and you went to school on the Monday happy to go.

Sadly I myself don't have any footage of that game. The next day number 41 for Footscray- Ross Christensen appeared on World Of Sport being interviewed by Same Newman possibly? I say Sam Newman because he was at the game as an 'around the groundsman' we heard him on the radio as we drove home- his comment which is still etched in my memory was

Sam Newman "A bomb could have gone off here at the Western Oval in the last quarter and no one would have noticed because such was the jubilation of the Footscray supporters"

He was spot on- the crowd was going beserk- only around 10,000 there- 7,000 of those would have been Footscray, Hawthorn had a North Melbourne like following in those days- they have picked up markedly since then the hawks though unlike poor old North who haven't.

If I ever come across it Langers I will definitely let you know.
