Fremantle's victory tonight means that a 'F' team will play in the Grand Final for the first time since 1961. Should the Eastern Hawks lose then it will be the first victory by an 'F' team since 1954.

Fitzroy last played in a Grand Final during the war- they won it too back in that year of 1944- that was their first flag since 1922 which of course means nothing to Footscray supporters as we were in the VFA back in 1922.

So it has been a very barren spell for 'F' teams for many years.
