When it became apparent that the bomb team was going to finish off Melbourne last Saturday night- I began to quietly celebrate each goal they got when their lead went beyond 120 points.

My rationale was that Essendon's Greatest winning margin was 146 points from Round 22 of 1982. I wanted them to surpass that and finally take it way from us and someone could take it- so the Central Demons would do (well anyone would be suffice)

When they got to within under a goal of that 146 lead- I thought- 'you ripper' yet THEN they began to play 'ring a ring a rosy football'

I was getting frantic- because this happened with them a few years ago- they had the chance to take this away from us when playing the Coast- the gold one in their first season. They didn't grasp the opportunity.

Then they goal with under a minute to go and I was so relieved when the siren went and the Central Demons had not scored after it.

So now they have it- whilst I feel sorry for Melbourne- I am glad that we are no longer the team that Essendon's highest winning margin is against.

That's totally understandeable. No one likes "negative" recordz. This is shaping up to be another of "those" years. When will we be competitive again?

It is going to be a long winter when it arrives (winter that is)

10 years ago way back in 2003 this club 'won' the wooden spoon.

May happen again unfortunately
