I still remember the elation I felt when our family heard that Chris Grant was staying at Footscray. He was my favourite player at the time and the news made us so happy and relieved. Had the complete opposite feeling today when I heard that my current favourite player and our captain Ryan Griffen wants a trade to GGW. Feel gutted about this. What on earth is going on with the club ? Griffen has always been so loyal and always said he wanted to be a one team player. There must be more to the troubles at the club for this to happen. Hope to goodness that the club can convince Griffen to stay. Would hate to lose him.

Chris Grant decided to stay, then just a few days after that the Footscray name was changed and our home games were moved from home- to Carlton's ground (which is no longer used for AFL Games!)
From exhilaration to disbelief so quickly.
We have gone retro with this- back to the old days- Captains and Brownlow Medalists quitting the club- this was a regular occurrence in the 1970's and 1980's.
The cycle has recommenced.
