This is another big gripe of mine. Former Footscray footballers being referred to as Western Bulldogs or the supposedly politically correct plain 'Bulldogs Player' or 'Former Bulldog"

In last Sunday's Sports lift out guide of the HERALD SUN, there was an article about Robert 'Bones' McGhie. For those not familiar with RBMcG he played for Footscray initially before moving to Richmond in the 1970's, then back to Footscray as well as a stint with South Melbourne.

This was that article by Scot Palmer in his Punchlines page

OLD BONES RESTS

Robbie "Old Bones" Mc Ghie has retired as coach in the WRFL after his team West Footscray won this year's premiership- with his son Lucas, winning the best and fairest award. The former Bulldog and Richmond premiership backman.............. The article continues on but the point is this .

If this article said, "The former Bulldog and Tiger Premiership player" I would tolerate it, yet as Richmond is mentioned, why can't they mention Footscray rather than Bulldog?

Also I notice that the South Melbourne part of his football career was overlooked. If that had of been mentioned, the cynic in me suggests he would have been described as former Bulldog, Richmond and Swans player. The South Melbourne would NOT have been written.

I've always liked Scot Palmer- but really Scoty- that was a shocker, no punches there mate
