That is fantastic how you picked up on that. I take it when the 20,000 days milestone arrives- you will be well prepared for that?

By my calculations that will fall on 25th June ....... hopefully we will be celebrating a good first half of the season - or keeping a lid on it. 20,000 days may be a cause for reflection on how long it has been since the last flag ...... not sure how to make anything positive of it. :(

Spooky that my post above was at 3 . 54
:(

June 25th- six months before or after (depending on your point of view) Christmas Day. So you reckon we should have make a bit of a song and dance about it when that day arrives the 20,000th?

A mate of mine's eldest brother is/was into that sort of thing. I was around at this mate's house one day and this brother rang up as we were sitting there watching television. Anyhow his reason for calling was to inform my mate(his brother) that tomorrow was their sister's 10,000 day alive. She was born on September 28 1966 so a keen mathematician like yourself, could I imagine quite easily work out what year and month this 10,000 day happened.

Christmas in June hehe why not.
If there were 333 days in a year there would be 1000 days every 3 years and 10,000 every 30 years but with 365 being about 10% extra, that would mean 1000 every 2.7 years and 10,000 every 27 years ergo she would have been about 27 years old which would have been in about 1993.....?? Please excuse the approximations. :(

I will take your word- I guess I should sit down and work it out to the exact date by myself- but anyhow 1993 that would have been about right.

Caveman, remember we were discussing scarves?

FOOTSCRAY - 20,000 Days without a Premiership!

I would love it if our cheer squad did a commemorative banner for this event. Closest match is rd 13 v North.

Did anyone see last year when the Philadelphia Phillies 'celebrated' their 10,000th lost making them the worst sporting franchise in the world. They then went on to win the world series, clearly the gods reward good humour.

Yes it is a bit similar to the SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION when Matty Robbins (er sorry Tim Robbins) is presented with a poster by his fellow inmates for his 'anniversary' of being a resident of Shawshank Prison.

So we could have a 20,000 day- scarf then hey? May have to look into that? Luton Town in England could do one as well. They haven't beaten Manchester United at Old Trafford since 1897? How many days would that be then. I know they have been in different divisions for most of the time- but Luton Town have spent a few years in the top flight alongside Manchester United.

Just think about it 1897- and also they changed their name did Manchester United. From 1878(?) until 1902 they were Newton Heath- then they became Manchester United in that year.

Now there is an omen for us maybe?

18 days to go so that would make it the 28th for the 20.000 days......

How do we get this in the media?? Apart from just blindly sending letters to the Age?

Wonder if Tony Leonard on 3AW is aware of this "milestone"?

He is on the breakfast show this week- John and Ross are on leave as appears to be all the other regulars on 3AW 693?

Caveman - you listen to 3AW???? Just when I was thinking you were a decent person!

I've sent an email to my contacts at Before the Game mentioning this fact. See if they find in interesting enough.

Well I like the morning program very much- both of them Burnso and Roscoe I find hugely entertaining- they have no genuine competition in my view. The alternatives on both AM and FM radio are miles behind. Their breakfast show is fantastic- they don't have egos or think the whole world revolves around them- they don't insult the intelligence of their audience- one other bloke on another AM station in the morning comes across as a smug arrogant individual- another other one on another station is a bit too 'low-brow' in what he says- so John and Ross win hands down

I am not in a position to listen to radio all day- however if I was behind the wheel all day as sales rep like one of my mates is- then I would probably run with John Faine on 3LO during that time zone. I like his attitude and performance. Then again radio when driving is mainly about flicking the stations to find the right song for me- so if there was a radio station devoted exclusively to rap music- then I wouldn't program that station to the six press buttons.

Tony Leonard mentioned on 3AW just before the game started that he was told on the way into the MCG in that it had been 20,000 days today since the 1954 Grand Final. He kept his word that he would mention it on air just after 2pm.

Well done Tony- he is a genuine Footscray supporter and a true red, white and blue Footscray man.
