St Kilda in the finals in the same season that Footscray is in the finals is traditionally a good thing for us.

Here is the facts which no one can argue against.

Footscray's finals appearances since the VFA Premiership of 1924.

1938, 1942, 1944, 1946, 1948, 1951, 1953, 1954, 1956, 1961, 1974,
1976, 1985, 1992, 1994, 1995, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2006, 2008

St Kilda's finals appearances since the Footscray VFA Premiership of 1924

1929. 1939, 1961, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1970, 1971, 1972,
1973, 1991, 1992, 1997, 1998, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2008

The seasons in which both Footscray and St Kilda have made the finals have been -

1961, 1992, 1997, 1998, 2006, 2008

1961 Footscray beat St Kilda, Footscray beat Melbourne
1992 Footscray beat St Kilda
1997 Footscray beat Sydney
1998 Footscray beat West Coast
2006 Footscray beat Collingwood

Footscray always win at least one finals game in a season where we make it and St Kilda makes it.

I guess we should all get used to the fact that winning 1 finals match every few years is the most Footscray fans can expect.

Gutted right now.

Yes I agree DMcG. The odd finals victory every few years is nothing to get excited about. It's a good theory that you put there Caveman, needs to come to the fore next week though.

Bringing this back after 1 whole year.

Same argument- safe logic

Footscray always wins at least 1 finals game in a finals series in which St Kilda also makes the finals in the same year.

So there it is -we will beat the Queenslanders and then play the rampaging St Kilda.

The last time we won two finals in a series was 1961 and St Kilda was one of our victims in that 1961 campaign and of course we made the Grand Final.

Here's hoping we get to beat St Kilda in the finals this season! Tomorrow I'm in for some serious nail-biting. As it is a friday game, I'll have to settle for a few furtive peeks at some site's live online stats during work. Oh well, as long as we win.

The St Kilda omen continues after last nights victory.

We want (and need) St Kilda in the finals every year.

I am looking for positives, so re establishing this topic.

The other one is that Sydney haven't beaten us in Melbourne since 1987#

Then if the Northern Blues win today- then that fact become irrelevant this year.

# Well I emphasise the word beat- as we played a draw in 1991 at home.
