What a bad loss. I know we have many injuries but last night's performance was pretty woeful. Cooney should not have played. He had been on a drip and had been sick all day. His performance showed that and that is unfair on him. We need some of our skinny players to bulk up. They often get brushed aside too easily. Boyd and Johnson tried hard all night and Everitt and Tom Williams are going to be excellent players in the future. I still like Farren Ray. I think once he bulks up a bit he will become an important player. Higgins will also improve and become a star.

Johnson may have tried hard all night but he was very selfish at times. He needs to learn to pass the ball more. He often this year has tried to do to much with it. While i am having a winge here are 4 more of my gripes:
* We have to learn how to deliver the ball into the forwards. We never seen to hit a running forward on the chest.
* Some players seem to not want to pass the ball to Acker even when he is clearly by himself.
* I know that we rotate players but seemt o do it at the wrong time. Why bring a player off after he has done a great passage of play. It only stops his momentum.
* Passing the ball backwards in the backline. We did it many times on Saturday night and it failed most times. The Eagles however only did it once chosing to run the ball out of the backline. They scored almost everytime from that style of play.

Anyway thats my gripe for now. We need a big improvement if we are going to beat the Saints.

There are a few new players to be added to the FOOTSCRAY PLAYERS Chapter of this website. Currently there are 60 there, but hopefully soon there will be an extra 8 players that are presently in the pipeline.

Of those eight new players, one is Luke Beveridge. One of the clips of him booting a goal involves Brad Johnson NOT giving him a handball initially. Johnson decided to have a shot himself, his kick was smothered by the Bears defender but fortunately Johnson managed to regain possession and this time he got the ball over to Beveridge in the goal square he put it away.

Now that was just an isolated incident back from 1994, but since looking at that, there does seems to be times when the great man should be a little more aware of his other teammates in better positions. In fairness to Brad Johnson- he is a gun and a pretty reliable kick but perhaps he may need to just be a bit more aware of others. I also believe he will kick 10 in a game one day, which is long overdue for us- Simon Beasley the last to do that 20 years ago in the 1980's.
