I have just watched half of the footy show. I turned it over when the season finale of Lost was finished. I used to watch the Footy Show every week or else always tape it but now I don't even bother. After watching the last 40 minutes or so of it I can safely say it has not improved. Insted of reviewing our game with West Coast, Sam Newman and Shane Crawford carried on like school children laughing over a dead turkey. Worse still, this took preference over the teams for the game. Street talk keeps getting more offensive with idiots exposing themselves making it on the final cut. Also, pillow talk with James Brayshaw is hopeless. He keeps raving over every woman he interviews, yet never gets them to say anything interesting. His interview tonight with Stephanie Mcintosh was cringe worthy.

Ever since Before the Game came on TV the Footy Show has been exposed as the pathetic television it is.

The reason BTG is the better show: Only 1 footballer per week, and even then they limit their screentime.

Footballers are great athletes, not entertainers.

I much prefer to watch Sports Journos and Comedians give insights and gags.

I can't beleive Sam & co get paid for what is ultimately a local club's pie night with a bigger budget.

Yes pretty fair comment.

I feel a bit sorry for Trevor Marmalade. Being the resident comedian is the hardest gig of them all, comedians have to be funny ALL of the time, even when their not working. If sitting in a restaurant eating his chicken parma, strangers will come up and expect him to tell jokes - and funny ones at that. Anyhow some people bag him but I reckon he's still quite alright. A tough job that after 13 years I think he has done well.

Footballers though are sadly not always the most humorous people. When Ricky Nixon signed up his club 10, he has some fine players in it- but Greg Williams, Garry Ablett, Gavin Wanganeen aren't really big talkers which probably explains why they aren't in the media now that their playing days are over. Great players but not likely to do the floor show at any function.

Shane Crawford is different- he loves the limelight- although his interactions with Sam Newman are mainly childish and that is grating.

Funny how there are no umpires in the media these days? Harry Beitzel and Ian Cleland were good at their craft. There should be room somewhere for Glenn James -he is a media natural. Peter Cameron is a bit of a character-

Maybe there just arent characters around anymore?

I watched the footy show last night at a mates house.

I mentioned in the comment before this one how Trevor Marmalade was a good bloke. Well he backed that up and vindicated my opinion of him with his joke about Griff and Brownless. Notice how he called our man a Footscray player- twice.

Good on you Trev, your all right by me.

As for that street talk, how often do they speak with Peter Street? :?

Anyway that segment was a shocker- they have exhausted the scene of intellectually ungifted people calling Newman a whatever.
